MY SPECIALTIES

        INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING

Individual counseling is a joint process between a therapist and a person in therapy. Common goals of therapy can be to inspire change or improve quality of life. People may seek therapy for help with issues that are hard to face alone.

    COUPLES/RELATIONSHIP THERAPY

Couples/Relationship therapy is a type of psychotherapy in which a therapist works with partnered people to gain insight into their relationship, resolve conflict and improve relationship satisfaction utilizing a variety of therapeutic interventions. While traditional couples therapy usually addressed concerns between two persons in a romantic relationship, today's relationships are much more diverse.  At Gravity, regardless of your particular relationship structure, we welcome all who wish to gain insight into troubled relationship dynamics and put an end to dysfunctional patters that are disrupting intimacy.

        ANXIETY and DEPRESSION

While anxiety and depression are not the same and each condition has its own causes, they often occur at the same time and share similar symptoms and treatments. At Gravity, we work to uncover issues underlying each condition and develop realistic, workable solutions to bring relief.

       GENDER AFFIRMING THERAPY

Gender dysphoria describes the distress felt by many people whose assigned gender is incongruent with their experienced gender.  Some people may develop mental health concerns like anxiety, depression, stress, and feelings of isolation as a result of this distress, but it is important to know that the incongruence itself is not a mental health condition, just as being transgender is not a mental health condition.  Psychotherapy for those experiencing gender distress can take many paths, all requiring a caring, affirming partnership between client and therapist.

        CLINICAL SEX THERAPY

Sex Therapy is a specialized practice of psychotherapy. The American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT) is a professional organization devoted to the promotion of sexual health. As an AASECT certified therapist I am committed to the mission of advancing the highest standards of professional practice and have adopted a sex-positive approach to therapy. Being sex-positive means being open, communicative, and accepting of individuals' differences related to sexuality and sexual behavior. I believe that each person's sexuality is unique and multifaceted. A sex-positive approach acknowledges diverse problems associated with sexuality and seeks to help resolve them with respect and care for all those involved.
